Our Spirits

In the beginning, Fred envisioned an old west saloon whiskey that
would satisfy the saddle sore, dusty, windblown, just plain "worn
slam out" cowboy sidling up to his favorite saloon to soothe his
parched throat. With that, he decided on an American favorite: a good
old sour mash, corn whiskey.

Black Canyon is a 100 percent Colorado sour mash corn whiskey. It
has a wonderful corn aroma with a hint of vanilla, and an earthy hint
of oak.

At Black Canyon Distillery we take great care in every step of
preparing our whiskey. Because we love making whiskey, we do our
best to ensure that every step in the process, from selecting the corn
for the mash to testing every run from the still, is performed correctly
and accurately to produce this fine whiskey.

We also try to do our part to maintain a clean environment. The spent
mash from the process is fed to local cattle. We like to think our mash
makes the cows in Colorado just a little bit happier.

May 28, 2012 - Black Canyon Distillery announces the release of Black
Canyon Rita, a unique Corn Whiskey cocktail. Black Canyon Rita is a
refreshing blend of fresh squeezed limes and oranges, fresh mint and
cilantro and their locally produced Black Canyon Corn Whiskey. It
contains no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.
The idea for this signature cocktail came about when Susan Lesnick
realized that her corn Whiskey was the perfect cocktail spirit. One
weekend and many recipes later, Black Canyon Rita was born. Try
Black Canyon Rita in the blender with a little ice or over the rocks with
a salted rim at your next summer BBQ. And for the adventurous, add
local fresh Colorado peaches, pears or any other fruit.
Black Canyon Distillery is located in (Mead) Longmont, Colorado and
was founded by Susan along with her husband Fred, daughter
Jeannetta and son Chris. The family takes great care in distilling their
Black Canyon Whiskey which is produced with a sour Colorado corn
mash. It can be found at local restaurants and liquor stores on the
Front Range, many mountain communities and Western Slope. The
distillery is open for tours and tastings every Thursday and Friday
from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information, contact Susan at
